Yoga Nidra: A Deep State of Conscious Relaxation

(Weekly regular classes)

Yoga Nidra, often referred to as “yogic sleep,” is a guided meditation practice that leads the practitioner into a state of deep relaxation and conscious awareness. During a typical session, the instructor will guide participants through a body scan, breath awareness, and visualizations to progressively relax the body and mind. While the body rests deeply, the mind remains alert, creating a powerful healing environment for the subconscious mind.
This meditation practice has numerous benefits, including stress relief, improved sleep, emotional healing, and enhanced mental clarity. Yoga Nidra can be particularly beneficial for those looking to unwind and de-stress, making it an excellent choice for both beginners and experienced meditators. Our classes are held once a week, providing a regular opportunity for participants to experience the profound effects of this technique.

Yoga Nidra, often referred to as “yogic sleep,” is a deeply restorative practice that guides participants into a state of conscious relaxation. Unlike other forms of meditation, Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation that induces a state of profound physical, mental, and emotional relaxation while maintaining full awareness.
This practice helps reduce stress, anxiety, and tension while promoting deep relaxation. It can improve sleep quality, enhance creativity, and restore balance to the nervous system. Yoga Nidra is especially beneficial for those looking for a simple yet powerful way to unwind and rejuvenate.
In our regular weekly Yoga Nidra sessions, you will be guided through a series of visualization techniques, body scans, and breathwork exercises designed to bring you into a state of deep calm. You will lie comfortably on the floor or a mat, allowing your body to fully relax while your mind stays alert and focused on the guidance. This practice is open to all levels and is perfect for anyone looking to release stress and cultivate inner peace.

Mantra Meditation

(Monthly Special Courses)

Mantra meditation involves the repetition of a sacred word, phrase, or sound (mantra) to help focus the mind and attain a meditative state. The sound vibration of the mantra creates resonance in the body and mind, leading to deep concentration, relaxation, and clarity.
Repetition of a mantra helps to quiet the mental chatter and focus your attention. It can lead to a sense of inner calm, a heightened sense of mindfulness, and greater self-awareness. This form of meditation is also believed to help with emotional healing and cultivating a sense of connection to the divine or to one’s higher self.
In our special monthly mantra meditation courses, you will be introduced to different mantras from various spiritual traditions. You will learn the significance of each mantra and how to use it effectively during meditation. The sessions may include chanting, silent repetition, or even listening to the sound vibrations of the mantra. This practice is ideal for those seeking to deepen their meditation experience and connect to the power of sound and vibration.

Pranayama

(Monthly Special Courses)

Pranayama is the practice of controlling and regulating the breath to enhance mental clarity, physical health, and emotional balance. The word “pranayama” comes from the Sanskrit words “prana” (life force or energy) and “yama” (control), which together signify the art of controlling the breath to influence energy within the body.

There are several pranayama techniques that can be used to achieve specific outcomes, such as calming the mind, energizing the body, and balancing the nervous system.

Here are a few key pranayama techniques you’ll experience in our classes:

  • Ujjayi Pranayama (Victorious Breath): Often used in yoga asana practice, Ujjayi involves breathing in and out through the nose with a slight constriction at the back of the throat. This creates a soothing sound that helps to focus the mind and create a calming effect, while also generating heat in the body. It’s a great technique for improving concentration and calming the nervous system.
  • Nadi Shodhana (Alternate Nostril Breathing): This technique involves alternating the breath between the left and right nostrils, which is said to balance the body’s energy channels (nadis).
Nadi Shodhana helps to calm the mind, reduce stress, and bring balance to both the left and right hemispheres of the brain. It’s especially beneficial for calming anxiety and promoting mental clarity.
  • Kapalbhati (Breath of Fire): This technique involves rapid, forceful exhalations through the nose, followed by passive inhalations.
Kapalbhati is designed to cleanse the lungs, energize the body, and improve concentration. It can also stimulate the abdominal muscles and aid digestion. This breathwork is particularly energizing and effective for clearing mental fog.
  • Bhastrika (Bellows Breath): Bhastrika is a powerful pranayama technique that involves vigorous inhalations and exhalations, similar to the action of a bellows used to stoke a fire.
This rapid, forceful breathing increases oxygen intake and stimulates the body’s metabolic processes. It can help to cleanse the respiratory system, increase energy levels, and invigorate the mind and body. Bhastrika is particularly helpful when you need a mental boost or to shake off lethargy.
  • Yogic Breathing (Dirga Pranayama or Three-Part Breathing): This technique involves a deep, diaphragmatic breath that fills the lungs completely in three stages: first into the lower belly, then the ribs, and finally into the upper chest. By using the full capacity of the lungs, this breathing technique promotes relaxation and helps in releasing tension from the body and mind.
Yogic Breathing is excellent for beginners, and anyone seeking to reduce stress, improve lung capacity, and experience a deeper state of relaxation.
These pranayama techniques can be used individually or in combination, depending on the needs of the practitioner.
Breathing is central to our life, and conscious breathing has profound benefits on both the body and mind. Pranayama helps reduce stress, balance the nervous system, improve lung capacity, and increase energy levels. It can also enhance mental clarity, focus, and emotional stability.
Pranayama is an essential component of meditation, allowing practitioners to cultivate a deeper connection with their breath and their inner state of being.

Zen Meditation

(Monthly Special Courses)

Zen meditation, or “Zazen,” is a seated meditation practice that originates from Zen Buddhism. It focuses on cultivating a calm, clear mind through sitting in stillness and observing the breath. Zen meditation encourages participants to let go of thoughts and distractions, helping them experience the present moment without attachment or judgment.
Zen meditation helps cultivate mindfulness, clarity, and awareness. It is particularly effective for those seeking to develop a deeper connection with their inner self and enhance their ability to live in the present. Zen meditation is also known for helping with mental clarity, focus, and emotional resilience.
In our Zen meditation sessions, you will learn the fundamentals of proper posture, breathing, and mindful awareness. Our instructors will guide you in sitting comfortably in a meditative posture, focusing on your breath, and gently letting go of distracting thoughts. This practice is suitable for beginners and experienced meditators alike.

Osho Active Meditation

(Monthly Special Courses)

Osho Active Meditation is a dynamic meditation technique designed to release pent-up emotions and stress through physical movement, sound, and expression. Developed by the Indian mystic Osho, this meditation combines stages of intense activity followed by deep silence and stillness. The goal is to help you experience a state of mindfulness through movement and self-expression.
Osho Active Meditation is ideal for people who find it difficult to sit still and meditate. It helps release emotional blockages, reduce tension, and reconnect with your body. This meditation is a great way to process emotional energy and find mental clarity while moving through physical activity.
Our Osho Active Meditation sessions are structured into several stages, including shaking, dancing, and active breathing, followed by a period of silent meditation. These stages encourage catharsis, emotional release, and inner peace. Participants can expect to leave feeling lighter, more energized, and deeply connected to themselves.

Social Meditation

(Monthly Special Courses)

Social meditation, also known as “group meditation,” is a practice where individuals come together to meditate in a collective space. Unlike solitary meditation, social meditation focuses on creating a shared energy field where participants meditate in harmony with others. This practice fosters a sense of community, connection, and shared purpose.
Meditating in a group setting amplifies the meditative experience and can deepen the sense of presence and awareness. It fosters a feeling of unity and collective peace, as participants are encouraged to synchronize their breath and energy with the group. Social meditation can also help you overcome feelings of isolation and create a deeper sense of belonging.
Our Social Meditation sessions invite participants to meditate together in a group, guided by an instructor. These sessions may include shaking, free dancing, guided body movements, hugging, silent sitting. The focus is on cultivating a shared energy of mindfulness and connection.
