Veeresh created Social Meditation in 1989, and they are his contribution to the world of meditation.
Veeresh Denny Yuson- Sanchez was born in New York in 1938.
From the age of 14 until he was 28, he was a drug addict.
Then he entered a rehabilitation program at Phoenix House New York, a drug-free therapeutic community for intensive rehabilitation.
There he began his involvement in human growth. He graduated top of the class as an Addiction Specialist and was selected to establish Phoenix House in London.
In 1974 he met his master Osho and took on the spiritual name of Anand Veeresh, which means “bliss beyond fear.”
In 1975 the Dutch Ministry of Health invited him to establish a training program for addiction specialists in the Netherlands.
Yuson- Sanchez founded the Humaniversity in 1978 with the aim of training therapists and people “who work with people.”
He was an innovative therapist and a compelling and inspiring teacher who has created many therapeutic processes, including the AUM Meditation and other Social Meditations.
He held a black belt (1st Dan) in the Korean martial art of Hap Ki Do, and was the founder of Osho- Do, the Humaniversity’s own system of martial arts.
Yuson- Sanchez was also a prolific painter and produced unique music called The Humaniversty Sound.
Veeresh created the Social Meditations with his life experience working with people.
Social Meditation is a term that did not exist before; it was created in the Humaniversity.
Social Meditations are simple active meditations conducted interactively. You encounter another human being as the focal point, like a mandala, so that you can discover your inner being.
These meditations are divided into several stages. Typically the first ones involve the movement of the body through dance or shaking, and the last ones bring stillness into the meditation. A beautiful component of the Social Meditations is that they all end with hugging.
Social Meditations are the art of using the other as a mirror to see yourself. Social Meditations will guide you to dance, meet people and express yourself. As these activities nourish your body and mind, you will be led naturally into a space of stillness and meditation.
Human connection is just as important as finding yourself. Indeed, the background of these meditations is the modern age we live in, in which isolation is becoming more and more prevalent. We have so many ways of distracting ourselves, entering our minds, and isolating ourselves, so natural contact and interaction between people seem unimportant.
However, the interaction between one human body and another is magical; you feel it when hugging each other. When you look inside, you see that everything starts to relax suddenly. You begin to feel soft; you finally feel more human again; you accept yourself and the other; life’s vibration starts to throb again.
Since their creation, Social Meditations have spread to over 35 countries worldwide.
Kamla Yoga contributes to bringing more Social Meditations to people by integrating them harmoniously into all her retreat offers. Social Meditations are a unique components of Kamla Yoga retreats!
